Very few home visits are medically necessary.
Most patients can safely be seen at the Practice. However, patients requesting a visit will be asked for a brief description of their problem, their telephone number and the request will be passed on to the duty Doctor. The Doctor will contact the patient and assess the need for a Home Visit.
Whenever possible please make your home visit request before 10am.
GP practices can request a Paramedic to visit a patient (aged 65 years and over) at home, in place of a GP home visit. The key objective is to reduce avoidable hospital admissions by providing a timely response to patients requiring a visit, and ensuring patients are cared for at home if appropriate. A patient that requests a home visit might referred to Paramedic Acute Visiting Services. For more information, click here.
