Alert: Extreme Heat Warning!!!!

The Met Office and UK Health Security Agency have issued a rare Red Warning for extreme heat across the Midlands, including Coventry. Temperatures could soar to between 38°C and 40°C with high humidity. This alert remains in effect from 09:00 BST on Wednesday until 21:00 BST on Thursday, presenting a significant risk to life. A Red alert is the most severe warning available, indicating that widespread impacts on daily life, infrastructure, and health services are highly likely. Key Details & Risks: - Extreme Temperatures: Daytime highs will exceed 30°C widely, with local peaks approaching 40°C. - Tropical Nights: Overnight temperatures are not expected to drop below 20°C to 22°C, providing your body with little relief to recover from the daytime heat. - Health Impacts: Severe impacts are anticipated across health and social care services. There is an increased risk to life across the entire population, not just the vulnerable. - Infrastructure: Potential disruptions to travel, power grids, and water supplies are likely.
