Repeat Prescriptions
The Practice provides a Repeat Prescription Service, to order your repeat medication please leave your Prescription Request at Reception, post requests to the Practice or order online (ask at Reception for more details). If you include a stamped addressed envelope, we will post your prescription back to you. We only take requests for repeat prescriptions over the telephone from disabled or housebound patients. The prescription will be ready for collection 2 working days after being received at reception. Every six months patients on repeat medication are required to see the Doctor for a medication review. Several Pharmacies in the area have a collection and delivery service, for further information contact your Pharmacy.
Prescription charges
The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines. Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.
Prescription costs as of April 1 2021
- The current prescription charge is £9.35 (£16.10 per pair of elastic hosiery).
- A three monthly PPC is £30.25. This saves you money if you need four or more items in three months.
- A 12-month certificate is £108.10 and saves money if 13 or more items are needed in 12 months.
PPCs are available by 10 monthly direct debit instalment payments. The prescription prepayment certificates allow anyone to obtain all the prescriptions they need for £2 per week.
There is further information about prescription exemptions, fees and PPCs available on the NHS website.
